Linden Sutton Update 7/21/18

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for being a part of my life and helping me through life so far.  You have all played an important part in making me who I am and I can’t be more grateful for all the love and support I have received from You.  I am writing to update you on the past few years and to ask for your support in my upcoming season of ministry!

UPDATE:

After high school, I moved to Indiana and took an internship training a service dog.  It was an amazing and surreal experience.  I learned about service animals and the different reasons that people need them.  I met some experienced people who had been training dogs for years and I actually completed training of a service dog named Rosco, who is now living as a medical response dog with his owner in Indiana.  I loved that experience and hope to train more dogs in the future.  I was a little over a year in Indiana before moving home and enrolling at Vermillion Community College in Ely, Minnesota.  I successfully completed a semester at Vermillion, and while it was a great experience, I have decided to pursue more ministry opportunities and seek a deeper understanding of missionary work.  Currently I am serving as the kitchen coordinator and lead cook for Coldwater Foundation at Mink Lake Wilderness Camp.  Coldwater is a faith and leadership development ministry that uses adventure and wilderness to help people mature in their faith.  This has been such a rewarding job, seeing all the ways God is working in the lives of people growing and learning so much through challenging outdoor experiences.  This is amazing to be a part of and I am really pleased with my position there.

WHAT’S NEXT

God has been teaching me a lot about the importance of helping, teaching, and learning from one another.  For that reason, I have decided to go with Score International to the Dominican Republic! With 15-20 other missionary students I will be taking biblical and theology classes as well as partnering with Score International’s full time missionaries!  We will get to work with a local church, a home called The Emmanuel House for young children whose families don’t have enough to take care of them, and The Lily House, a ministry home for women and girls who are being rescued and healing from sex trafficking.  I am also very excited to learn Spanish while being submerged in a Latin culture.

I will be leaving for the Dominican Republic on August 24th (which is really soon) and will be there until May 2019.

My personal goals for this year are to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself.  I want to grow in my relationship with God.   I am so excited to learn about evangelism and grow in that area as well.   I have also never been overseas, so I am looking forward to learning more about the world and experience a very different culture!
